Our home

After 2 1/2 years our landscaping is finally finished - complete with a freshly painted house! It was a L-O-N-G process, but I couldn't be happier. Brodie did all the landscaping himself (with a little guidance from his dad) and it really looks amazing. The painters finished up the front of the house (for the most part) today and I love it! I can't believe the difference. I don't think i'm ever going to want to move out of this house now. The house does look more brown in person than in this photo, but you can get a general idea.

Keilah's Ballet Recital

This weekend we had Keilah's first Ballet recital. Her class danced to 'We go together' from Grease. It was the cutest thing ever. Keilah looked adorable. She loved every minute of the day. I asked her her favorite part and she said her dance. I think that wearing 'lip-chap' was probably a close second favorite. She was really proud and I'm proud of her. She got up in front of over 200 people and it didn't phase her a bit. I was nervous enough for both of us though. She did great and she's already talking about next years recital.

More past funnies...

Eventually I'll get to the current ones, but I'm a little behind.

FUNNY #4 (May '07)

Background - When Dylan was about 18 months old, our miniature doxen was hit and killed by a car. Dylan was very close to her and he still talks about her to this day. He knows she went to heaven, but doesn't totally get what heaven is.

The funny - We were visiting my parents for Mother’s Day weekend and had to stop by my sisters MIL's house. We pulled in the driveway and there were 3 dogs running in the yard. Dylan says "mommy maybe Madchen lives here" I asked him "Dylan where does Madchen live?" He responded, "in heaven-but maybe this is heaven b/c there are lots of dogs here". We were cracking up.

FUNNY #5
The kids went with us to my OB appointment so they could hear the baby's heartbeat. We were waiting in the room and Dylan asked Keilah what she wanted to be when she got bigger “Baby when you get big do you want to be JUST a mommy and stay home?” She replied no she wants to be a fireman. Dylan also said he wants to be a daddy and a fireman. I guess I’m JUST a mommy. Little do they know how much mommy really has to do.

FUNNY #6 (9.22.07)

I was getting dinner ready and while cutting up the smoked sausage I gave Dylan 4 pieces. I asked him to give 2 pieces to Keilah and he could eat 2. He said "I want to have 3 mommy" I told him no your sister needs TWO. He replies "mommy I gave her two, I just cut one in half. Now I have 3 and she has 2" . That kid is just too much!

Some past funnies

In April of '07 I managed to write down a couple of funnies. Here's a stoll down memory lane...

FUNNY #1

The background....I tend to say the word ‘hate’ a little too often, i.e. ‘I hate doing the dishes etc.’ Both kids have picked this up. Since hate is not a word I like hearing from them I correct them by saying they should say ‘I don’t like’.

The funny....We are at Burger King and Dylan has just had a melt down about what he wanted to drink (and if you know Dylan you know how frusterating these fits can be for me). I say to Brodie "I hate asking him what he wants to drink." Dylan promptly interrupts me with "mommy that is not a nice word, you should say I don’t like", my reply is "I’m sorry, I don’t like asking Dylan" and he comes back with "that’s much better mommy, thank you." Brodie and I were cracking up. At least I know he hears me when I talk to him. (April 6, 2007)

FUNNY #2

Dylan has somehow picked up ‘I can’t believe my eyes’ and ‘You don’t see that everyday’. It is hilarious hearing a three year old use these phrases correctly. Well Keilah has put a spin on ‘I can’t believe my eyes.’ When she is mad and you’re telling her something she says (with total attitude I might add) ‘I don’t care my eyes.’ This is just too much for me. I can't discipline her when she has me in tears from laughing.

FUNNY #3

Both the kids are very interested in body parts lately (Keilah especially). Every time someone goes to the bathroom she talks about what they have (and she wants to see). She knows boys have a penis and girls a vagina. Well she doesn't want a vagina, nope not my little princess - she wants a penis. I hear "mommy I want a penis" multiple times a day. She is under the impression, and I don't know who gave her this impression, that when she gets bigger she'll grow one. Please tell me this phase won't last long. I don't know how to explain these things to a 2 year old!

UPDATE (May 2008): Keilah is no long interested in having a penis! She's all girl. Girl Power and Girls Rock or her two most used phrases now a days. WHEW!!

The reason for Cianciolo Quips and Capers

After a few years of my kids saying and doing outrageous things, and my mom asking me if i've writtien any of the stuff down...I've decided to create Cianciolo Quips and Capers (thanks mom for that title).

In this blog you'll find all of the funny - and not so funny - things my kids say and do. From time to time you'll get to see some pictures that i've taken with my beloved camera and also some of my digi scrap pages (a new addiction). I hope you enjoy :)
